La prise de sang aux vaisseaux de la queue constitue la norme dans les prélèvements réalisés notamment dans le cadre de la prophylaxie obligatoire et des mesures de police sanitaire. Elle nécessite néanmoins d'acquérir un certain tour de main. Le débutant pourra utilement consulter cette vidéo qui présente ce geste de manière méthodique pour rapidement être opérationnel. Cette vidéo a été réalisée en collaboration avec la Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire de l'Université de Liège.

Ludovic Martinelle

Ludovic Martinelle graduated as Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Liège in 2005. He started his career as a veterinarian in private practice, working for one year in France and two years in Switzerland, mainly with ruminants. Ludovic then joined the Research Unit in Epidemiology and Risk analysis applied to Veterinary Sciences of the University of Liege in 2008. He started his researches studying experimental models of bluetongue virus serotype 8 on cattle. Indeed, clarifying pathogenesis, persistence and protection mechanisms against bluetongue virus in cattle represent the main topics of his PhD thesis. In 2011 he was awarded with the Huynen foundation scholarship, which allowed him to learn in situ detection techniques at the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. More recently and following the unexpected emergence of Schmallenberg virus (SBV), Ludovic managed several experimental infections of sheep with SBV, in collaboration with Veterinary and Agrochemical Research Centre (VAR-Bruxelles). In 2013 he obtained a Master in Veterinary Public Health, module Emerging Diseases. Ludovic is currently the Director of the Experimental Station of the Faculty of veterinary Medicine of the University of Liege (CARE-FEPEX). CARE-FEPEX provides assistance in veterinary research projects involving large laboratory animals, and offers teaching material in dairy and beef cattle herd management.
