Marie-France Humblet

In July 1997, I graduated as a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Liege (ULg). Then, I followed a master in management of animal and vegetal resources in tropical areas, which gave me the opportunity to discover Ecuador, and more specifically south-American camelids. Between January 2001 and November 2005, I have been working as an assistant in the Biochemistry Unit of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (ULg), where I carried out my PhD research on the use of haptoglobin as an acute phase protein in cattle. I then integrated the Department of Theriogenology of Ruminants within the frameworks of a research project aiming at studying risk factors for mastitis in Walloon dairy cows.

In April 2007, I started to work in the Unit of Epidemiology and Risk Analysis applied to Veterinary Sciences, where my research activities mainly focused on (i) spatiotemporal dynamics of bovine tuberculosis in Belgium, (ii) estimation of economic losses associated with emerging diseases in Wallonia and (iii) data availability and accessibility in animal health (European project). Since 2012, I am in charge of biosecurity linked to teaching activities at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
