Valérie Bavegems

Valérie Bavegems earned her DVM degree in 1995 at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University, Belgium.
For the first two years, Valérie worked at the Small Animal Department, Internal Medicine Section of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Merelbeke. Thereafter, she worked in two private practices for two years, and joined the Small Animal Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine again, this time at the Cardiology & Respiration Section. In January 2010, under supervision of Prof. Dr. A. De Rick, she finished her PhD on “Clinical Cardiological Parameters in Whippets”.
Valérie is currently responsible for the Cardiology consultations at the Small Animal Department, and also for the theoretical and practical courses on Cardiology for the Master years. She is also regularly involved in cardiological research.
At present, she’s working part-time at the Small Animal Department, and is also working together with Dr. A. Cohen-Solal (Brussels) and DAP Clos Fleuri (Merelbeke).
She is author or co-author of 40 scientific publications. She also presented several abstracts and posters at international and national congresses, and is regularly involved in continuing education programs for vets.
Valérie is a member of the Belgian Cardiology working group, SAVAB Flanders and the European Society of Veterinary Cardiology.
