Frédéric Billen

Dr Frédéric Billen has graduated from the University of Liège in 2000. After his internship and residency in small animal internal medicine in Liège, he presented a Master’s degree on “The clinical, endoscopical and histological investigation of the nasopharynx in dogs” in 2005. He became diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine of Companion Animals (ECVIM-CA) in 2007 and defended his PhD thesis on “Value of microbiological tests in the diagnosis of canine sino-nasal aspergillosis and evaluation of a new topical therapeutic protocol” in 2008. 

He is currently senior lecturer in small animal internal medicine at the same University. His main areas of interest are respiratory and uro-nephrology. He is author and/or co-author of around 20 articles in national and international journals as well as several book chapters. Besides this, he is ECVIM-CA resident advisor and coordinator of the rotating internship in small animals at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Liège. He is also president of the European Society of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ESVIM) since 2013 and member of the European Society of Veterinary Nephrology and Urology (ESVNU) since 2008.
